Vikas Edit Style Prompts: 5 Photo Edit Prompts You Can Use on Your Own Picture

“Vikas edit” is what people search when they want the viral, poster-style portrait edits shared on social media: dramatic light, a new backdrop, the same face. Here are five prompts in that style. Each one opens in the ImageRework editor, so you only need to add your photo.

How to use this page: pick a look, press Use to open the editor with the prompt already filled in, upload a clear photo of yourself, and generate. Copy the prompt instead if you want to tweak it first. A saved result uses 3 credits; failed attempts use none.

“Vikas edit” is a popular nickname for a look, not a product. ImageRework is not affiliated with any creator of that name; these prompts are our own, written for the same style.

What makes a “Vikas edit” look

  • One strong backdrop: smoke, neon streets, heritage architecture, rain, or a clean studio color.
  • Directional light: a rim light, neon spill or low sun that makes the subject pop from the background.
  • A cinematic grade: high contrast, film grain, teal-and-orange or cool desaturated color.
  • The same person: the face, expression, hairstyle and outfit should still be you.

That last point is where most prompts fail. Every prompt below names the details to keep, not just the new style — the same change–preserve–quality structure we explain in our guide to AI image editing prompts that preserve the photo.

1. Cinematic poster with smoke and rim light

The classic movie-poster look. Works best with a front-facing or three-quarter photo where the face is well lit.

Poster prompt

“Turn this photo into a cinematic movie-poster portrait. Darken the background to deep charcoal with soft drifting smoke and a warm orange rim light from behind. Keep the person's face, identity, expression, hairstyle, skin tone, outfit and pose unchanged. Add gentle film grain, high contrast and a slight teal-and-orange grade, with natural edges around the hair.”

Use

2. Neon street at night

Swaps only the background, so it suits a photo where you are already standing or sitting upright.

Neon prompt

“Replace only the background with a rainy city street at night: pink and cyan neon signs, wet asphalt reflections and soft bokeh lights. Keep the person's face, identity, expression, hair, clothing, pose and framing unchanged. Add matching neon color spill on the cheeks and shoulders and keep the subject sharp while the street stays softly out of focus.”

Use

3. Heritage palace backdrop at golden hour

Popular for festive and traditional outfits — during Diwali week, our Diwali AI photo prompts cover the saree, sherwani and rangoli versions. Mention jewelry or a dupatta in the keep list if you are wearing one.

Heritage prompt

“Replace only the background with a sandstone palace courtyard with carved arches at golden hour. Keep the person's face, identity, expression, hairstyle, clothing, jewelry, pose and camera angle unchanged. Light the subject with warm low sun from the side, add a soft shadow on the ground and keep the arches gently blurred behind the subject.”

Use

4. Monsoon rain mood

A cool, moody edit that keeps your bike, umbrella or other props. Add the prop by name if it matters.

Rain prompt

“Make this a moody monsoon portrait: overcast blue-grey sky, light rain streaks in the air, wet road and puddle reflections. Keep the person's face, identity, expression, hairstyle, clothing, pose and any bike or prop unchanged. Add realistic raindrops on clothing, a cool desaturated grade and soft contrast, without changing the camera angle.”

Use

5. Studio DP (profile picture)

A clean, high-end display picture. Change “deep maroon” to any color you like; keep the rest of the prompt.

Studio prompt

“Replace only the background with a seamless deep maroon studio backdrop with a soft circular light glow behind the head. Keep the person's face, identity, expression, hair, clothing, pose and framing unchanged. Use soft key light from the front left, a subtle hair light, clean natural skin texture and crisp edges for a profile picture.”

Which photo works best

PhotoWhat to expect
Sharp, well-lit face, one personBest results; identity is easiest to keep
Busy background or several peopleName the person to keep (“the man in the white shirt on the left”) and expect more retries
Small face, far from the cameraCrop closer before uploading; tiny faces drift more
Heavy filters already appliedStart from the original photo; stacked filters confuse the new grade

If the result does not look like you

AI editing can still change small facial details, even when the prompt asks to keep them. Compare the eyes, nose, jawline and hairline with your original before you post. If something drifted:

  • Go back to the first version and remove style words that touch the face, such as “glowing skin” or “sharper features”.
  • Use marked refinement to point at the exact area — a sleeve, the hair edge, a background sign — and give that marker one short instruction.
  • Make one change per version: backdrop first, then color grade. Big all-in-one prompts drift more.

If you want to restyle the whole picture rather than keep it photographic, see AI image editor vs. image-to-image.

FAQ

Do I need editing skills?

No. Press Use on a prompt, upload your photo and generate. You can edit the prompt text in the editor before you start.

Can I change the colors or the place?

Yes. Swap the nouns — “maroon” for “emerald”, “palace courtyard” for “beach at sunset” — and keep the sentence that lists what should stay unchanged.
